…steampunk. Bei den Daring Cardmakers feiern wir heute das viktorianische Zeitalter, da führte für mich natürlich kein Weg am Thema Steampunk vorbei.

We’re celebrating the Victorian Era at the Daring Cardmakers‘ this week and of course I had to get some of my steampunkt stuff out to play.

Heute sind bei den Daring Cardmakers die Buchstaben des Wortes „may“ (für den Monat Mai) im Fokus. Gar nicht einfach, sage ich euch!

This week’s challenge at the Daring Cardmakers‘ is to make a card the features elements starting with the same letters as the word „may“

Meine Buchstaben sind / my letters are

M – mandala (+ massive headache that the challenge gave me)

A – aqua, azur, adho mukha svanasana

Y – yellow, yoga

Diese Woche dreht sich bei den Daring Cardmakers alles um das Thema Zeit. Wobei ich natürlich gleich an einen Timelord denke… und drehen tut sich’s auch: ich habe eine Jojo-Spinner-Karte gemacht, die TARDIS sitzt für noch mehr Dynamik auf einem Wobble. Einige werden die Vorlage kennen, allen anderen empfehle ich das hier.

It’s all about time at the Daring Cardmakers‘ this week – or in my case a time lord. I made a yoyo-spinner-card with the TARDIS sitting on a wobble for an extra-dynamic effect. Some of you will surely know the source of my inspiration but if you don’t you can look here.

Auch im Mai gibt es bei den Daring Cardmakers wieder ein schönes Foto zur Inspiration. Ich habe für mein Tag folgende Elemente ausgewählt: Farben, Schimmer, Sterne, Flügel, Hände. Die Flügel habe ich auf ein Stück schimmernden Kunststoff gestempelt, das ich von einer Freundin bekommen habe – ein Musterstück des Materials für ihre Wohnzimmerlampe! Ein bisschen mehr von diesem Material seht ihr im Hintergrund des zweiten Fotos.

As with every new month the Daring Cardmakers are having an elemental inspiration picture this week. The elements I chose for my tag are: colours, pearlescent sheen, stars, wings, hands.

I stamped the wings on a pearlescent piece of plastic that was given to me by a friend – it was a sample of the material that her living-room lamp was made off. You can see a little more of it in the background of the second pic.

Natürlich denke ich dabei sofort an Nena – und an das goldene Zeitalter der Musikkassette, als man noch wöchentlich mit dem Rekorder vor der ZDF-Hitparade saß und immer darauf hoffte, dass der dusselige Papagei dieses Mal nicht beim besten Lied in die Aufnahme krächzt.

…is this week’s theme at the Daring Cardmakers‘. Of course it made me think of Nena – and the golden age of tape cassettes, sitting in front of the „Hitparade“ every week, forever hoping that our parrott wouldn’t ruin the recording of the best song yet again.

Blumen sind diese Woche das Thema bei den Daring Cardmakers. Eigentlich nicht so ganz mein Thema, aber ich hatte sofort eine Idee mit der Gelliplate. Bloß haperte es mit der Umsetzung, so dass ich jetzt sehr viele (also wirklich sehr, sehr viele. eine Menge. echt) mehr oder minder gelungene Blumenhintergründe zum Verarbeiten hier liegen habe.

This week’s theme at the Daring Cardmakers‘ is flowers. Not necessarily my cup of tea but I had an idea straightaway that involved using my Gelliplate. Only it didn’t work out as planned. And now I have a lot (I mean really, really a lot. loads. seriously) of flower prints in different qualities that want to be made into cards.

A few samples to give an impression. They were all made using the same stencil:

Nr. 1 – in einem gedruckt, aber auf den Blumen sollten eigentlich keine Punkte zu sehen sein

No. 1 – printed in one go, but I didn’t want the dots to show on the flowers

Nr. 2 – der letzte Druck, die Farbreste auf der Platte mit Wasser angelöst, es war ursprünglich sehr viel Farbe auf der Platte

No. 2 – final print from originally loads of paint on the plate, watered down to clean the plate

Nr. 3 – am nächsten an meiner ursprünglichen Idee, in 2 Durchgängen gedruckt (erst Hintergrund, dann Blumen). war mir dann aber zu langweilig, so dass ich mich noch ein bisschen mit Stempeln, Stencil & Co. ausgetobt habe.

No. 3 – closest to my original idea, printed in two goes (first the background then the flowers). I found it a little boring, though, so had a go at it with some stamps, a stencil etc.

Bei den Daring Cardmakers gibt es diese Woche eine Bingo-Challenge. Neun Elemente in drei Dreierreihen stehen für eure Karten zur Auswahl, eine Reihe (auch diagonal) sollte vollständig vertreten sein.

Ich konnte mich nicht entscheiden und habe versucht, alle vorgeschlagenen Elemente unterzubringen:

Die nächste Foto-Inspiration bei den Daring Cardmakers steht an. Ich habe mich für die Farben, Punkte, eine schönen Schriftzug, ein verliebtes Paar und ein klares Design entschieden.

It’s time for another Daring Cardmakers picture inspiration challenge. I went for colours, dots, lettering, a couple in love and the clean & simple style of the moodboard.

Diese Woche feiern wir bei den Daring Cardmakers die besonderen Frauen in unserem Leben. Ich habe das Glück, dass es in meinem Leben ganz viele tolle Frauen gibt, aber sie in Szene zu setzen, ist gar nicht so einfach.

Diese Karte müsste daher auch eigentlich viel größer sein, denn sie ist einer Gruppe von Frauen gewidmet, mit denen sich in den letzten paar Jahren aus einer Hobbybekanntschaft eine sehr innige Freundschaft entwickelt hat: Mädels ihr seid einfach ganz wunderbar!

We’re celebrating women at the Daring Cardmakers‘ this week. I’m lucky to have quite a few women in my life who are all very special to me in their own ways, but I didn’t find it easy to set them in scene.

This card is actually not quite big enough as it is dedicated to a group of women that have developed from hobby buddies into really dear friends over the last couple of years: ladies, you are simply wonderfull!
